Newcastle United will look to add bodies to their squad in the summer transfer window.
An influx of money due to the lack of spending in recent transfer windows means that sporting director Paul Mitchell is set to be given the go-ahead to spend much more freely at the end of the season – plans have already been put in place.
Newcastle United lost squad depth when they sold Miguel Almiron to Atlanta United and loaned Lloyd Kelly to Juventus, the latter is expected to make a permanent switch to the Italian giants in the summer.
Newcastle will sign young players in the summer, rather than established names who may cost significantly more money. The plan does not completely rule out a more reputable name joining the club, however, the Magpies want a winger and have identified Bryan Mbeumo as a possible option.

From a youth perspective, Newcastle are close to signing Antonio Cordero from Malaga. The winger has nine goal involvements in the Segunda Division so far this campaign.
With Mitchell ready to spend in the post-season, a new transfer report has linked Newcastle to a player they missed out on in 2020 – a player who went on to do big things.
Newcastle interested in Ademola Lookman
Atalanta star Ademola Lookman has come leaps and bounds since his torrid spells in the Premier League. The 27-year-old played for Everton, Fulham and Leicester but failed to hit the ground running at any of the three.
Lookman has since got his career back on track and has made a name for himself in the Serie A, scoring 36 times in 82 league games. The forward also scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final last season, winning his first-ever major trophy.
According to TeamTalk, Newcastle are one of several clubs that have registered an interest in Lookman ahead of the summer window.
The report states that Newcastle have sent scouts to watch the forward’s recent games and were impressed with what they saw. If they want to sign him in the summer, they must fight off interest from Manchester United who are also reportedly interested along with three other clubs in Europe.

The report suggests that he will cost around £58.3m, his versatility also makes him a very likely contender to rival or even replace Jacob Murphy on the right wing if he joins.
Lookman nearly joined Newcastle while he was playing for Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in 2020, but the proposed loan move failed after Leipzig officials publicly ruled out his exit.
Fans will consider him as one that got away after missing out on him but Mitchell now has the chance to make up for it.

While Lookman has impressed in his last three seasons in Italy, his time with Atalanta could be coming to a bitter end following his recent actions on the pitch. Lookman stole a penalty from his teammate during an important Champions League clash against Club Brugge. He missed the spot-kick, and Atalanta were knocked out of the competition on aggregate.
The move caused La Dea boss Gian Piero Gasperini to say Lookman was “one of the worst penalty-takers he has ever seen.”
Lookman did not take kindly to the comments and voiced his displeasure on social media. There is a big chance that the relationship between the pair has broken down because of the spat – pushing Lookman further towards an exit.
Newcastle must ensure a similar incident does not occur should Lookman move to Tyneside. The Nigerian international wears his heart on his sleeve – something Eddie Howe will like but must contain in high-pressure situations.
