Newcastle United are on the hunt for a new striker this summer, and they may have just found one who is keen on a move.

This season, the Magpies have been fortunate enough to have Alexander Isak in the form of his life. His 25 goals in all competitions has been the difference maker for them when things have looked tough.

However, Newcastle United fans are concerned about Isak’s fitness. The 25-year-old has not played a full 90 minutes at club level since the middle of April and there are growing concerns that there could be a lingering injury problem or fitness issue.

Newcastle have Callum Wilson and William Osula as options. But head coach Eddie Howe does not trust Osula and Wilson’s performances off the bench have been unsatisfactory.

Furthermore, Wilson’s contract is up at the end of the season, and at 33, there is a slim chance he gets a new deal.

With a new striker high on Paul Mitchell’s list of priorities this summer, a new transfer report has linked the Magpies with a striker who has been unstoppable in France this season.

Newcastle United targeting move for Emanuel Emegha

Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha has been a force to be reckoned with in Ligue 1 this season, scoring 13 goals and bagging two assists in his 25 league appearances.

His fine form has propelled Strasbourg up to seventh in the table, just three points off the Champions League places under former Hull City manager Liam Rosenier.

According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Emegha could leave Strasbourg this summer amid serious interest from the Premier League.

The report states that Emegha is on Newcastle’s radar ahead of a move this summer, and the Dutchman is open to the move.

However, the Magpies are not alone in their interest. The report states that Chelsea are also interested and have recently provided the forward with a career plan.

The report also claims that Newcastle are anticipating Isak’s departure this summer. But upcoming contract talks and a gargantuan price tag make the prospect of his exit very unlikely.

With Newcastle definitely returning to Europe next season, the need for more strength in depth is at an all-time high.

While he may not be keen on playing as a second-string striker, Emegha looks to be an ideal player to come in whenever Isak needs a rest.

Referred to as ‘indispensable’ on the Ligue 1 website, Emegha has the potential to be a great project player for Newcastle, with the hope that Howe can develop him to become an attacker rival Premier League clubs fear.
