Newcastle United could look to sign a new striker this summer.
While Alexander Isak is Newcastle United’s star player up front, the options behind him are not totally convincing.
Indeed, Callum Wilson could leave Newcastle this summer upon the expiration of his contract, while William Osula remains untested.
As such, the club are being linked with a move for a new forward to act as cover and competition for Isak in equal measure. Newcastle are interested in Liam Delap, though he’s not the only name linked with a move to St James’ Park.
In fact, they could make a move to sign Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth.

Newcastle United show interest in Alexander Sorloth
According to Caught Offside, Newcastle are among the clubs keen on a move for the 29-year-old.
West Ham, Aston Villa and Wolves are also thought to be interested in the former Crystal Palace forward, who has scored 17 goals in only 13 La Liga starts this season.
Still, the forward is understood to be happy in the Spanish capital, while Atletico are under no pressure to sell him.
Erling Haaland is a huge fan of the Norway star, too. Haaland called Sorloth the ‘King of the North’ on Instagram.

Newcastle United have liked Alexander Sorloth for years
Newcastle scouted Sorloth back in 2020, too.
Frankly, it’s hard to see a player of his stature wanting to leave Atletico for a place on the bench behind Isak. There would be games for him at Newcastle next season but he’s already playing a reasonably bit-part role at one of Spain’s biggest clubs.
With that in mind, moving to Newcastle for a similar role does not make a huge amount of sense.
In an ideal world, Newcastle would have an elite-level forward to cover Isak.
That, however, just does not seem feasible right now.
