Newcastle United are in the market to sign a new striker.

The Magpies brought in Will Osula during the summer transfer window, but there could be further reinforcements in the striker department at St James’ Park.

It was recently reported that Newcastle are looking to sign a striker in 2025, with Callum Wilson’s future on Tyneside uncertain.

There have been a few players linked with moves up north, such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jonathan David. Both players are set to become free agents in the summer, and Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Newcastle have spoken to David’s representatives about what it would take to sign him on a free transfer.

It remains to be seen who Newcastle’s primary attacking target is, but now a new option has emerged.

Newcastle United linked with Omar Marmoush

Paul Mitchell is keen for Newcastle to tap into different markets, and that could potentially happen next year.

According to Give Me Sport, Newcastle United have joined the list of Premier League clubs that are interested in Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush.

The 25-year-old currently plays in the Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt, and is attracting interest from the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham United.

Give Me Sport believe that Marmoush is also on the Magpies’ radar, on the back of an excellent start to the 2024/25 season.

Interestingly, Marmoush is represented by CAA Stellar, who also represent Nick Pope and Will Osula.

Newcastle target is scoring for fun so far this season

So far this season, Alexander Isak only has one goal for Newcastle United. As for Callum Wilson, he is yet to even feature for the Magpies.

In contrast, Marmoush is flying in a Frankfurt shirt. He has made eight appearances in all competitions this season and boasts seven goals. The striker, who can also play off the left, also has five assists to his name.

Marmoush is enjoying a very good start to the season, with 12 goal contributions so far. In comparison, the entire Newcastle United squad has only scored 10 goals between them.

The former Wolfsburg player is well on his way to toppling his tally from last season, with the 2023/24 campaign ending with Marmoush scoring 17 goals and providing six assists.

Marmoush plays for Egypt alongside Mo Salah

Marmoush is an Egypt international, making his debut for his country back in 2021.

He has since gone on to win 32 caps for Egypt, scoring six goals.

He plays in attack alongside Mo Salah, who continues to shine in a Liverpool shirt and prove he is one of the best players on the planet.

Marmoush is friends with the Liverpool superstar, and has admitted that he is very much inspired by his international colleague.

“He [Salah] managed to become one of the three best players the world,” he said, as reported by the Bundesliga’s official website.

“That inspires me and it’s something I also want to achieve.”

Marmoush, who has been described as ‘wonderful’ by former Egyptian player Ahmed Shobair, clearly has lofty ambitions, and it will be interesting to see where he goes next as he plans his journey to become one of the best players in the world – just like Salah.

Newcastle United are hoping to become one of the best clubs in the world under PIF, so perhaps Tyneside could be a good home for the in-form striker.
