Newcastle transfer news: Toon hold talks to sign 15-year-old Kendry Paez

Newcastle United are continuing to scour the market for the best young prospects in world football, and are now reportedly interested in Kendry Paez.

He is a 15-year-old midfielder from Ecuador who has the biggest clubs around queueing up to secure his signature.

The Magpies are one of the sides in the mix to sign him, and 90min claim that Newcastle have held talks with the teenager’s representatives about a move to St James’ Park.

However, Newcastle are not the only club that has spoke to Paez’s agent. 90min also believe that Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have held discussions.

Brighton are linked as well, which is no surprise given their track record of signing young players. Paez actually plays for Independiente del Valle, which is the club that the Seagulls bought Moises Caicedo from.

Paez is seen as Ecuador’s next rising star, and there is hope that he can follow in Caicedo’s footsteps. The Brighton midfielder has been one of the Premier League’s standout players this season, and almost secured a big money move away from the Amex during the January transfer window.

Arsenal and Chelsea both made bids for him, but they were turned down. Newcastle were also linked, but a move was never forthcoming.

That was probably because of the price tag, and now Dan Ashworth has eyes on the future as he looks to snap up the next Moises Caicedo.

Paez could not join NUFC until 2025

Newcastle are interested in the youngster, but he will not actually be able to move clubs until 2025. That is because FIFA rules state that that a player can’t move to Europe until he turns 18. His 18th birthday will be May 7th 2025.

But that is not going to stop Newcastle or anyone else from trying to sign him now. A club could arrange a future transfer now, in the same way that Real Madrid already have a deal confirmed to sign Brazilian sensation Endrick.

Los Blancos are also linked with Paez, and headline the list of major European clubs that are apparently watching the South American starlet according to 90min. Other clubs include Barcelona, PSG and Bayern Munich.

Despite only being 15-years-old, Paez is a man, or boy, in demand. Newcastle are in the conversation, and this would be the type of deal that Ashworth was brought to the club to do.
