Talk of Newcastle United making a move to sign Dominik Szoboszlai is getting louder and louder, and now the Magpies know exactly how much he will cost.
Szoboszlai was first linked with Newcastle back in March, while Toon scouts appear to have been monitoring him ever since.
It was then reported last week that the 22-year-old is now Eddie Howe’s top transfer target, and that the club are prepared to make him Newcastle’s best paid player ever.
The midfielder has since spoke about his future, and refused to rule out a move away from RB Leipzig. That came after he scored a stoppage time winner against Werder Bremen on Sunday – in front of Toon officials.

According to Sky Germany, Newcastle scouts were in attendance to see Szoboszlai score the winner in Leipzig’s 2-1 win on Sunday.

The report adds that the Hungarian is one of Newcastle’s top targets, which coincides with what was reported about the Magpies’ interest last week.
There is a new piece of information from Sky Germany, who state that Leipzig will only sell Szoboszlai if his release clause is paid in full. That means he is going to cost Newcastle £61million if Dan Ashworth decides to make a move.
That fee would make him the club’s second most expensive signing ever, just behind Alexander Isak. The deal to sign him from Real Sociedad was worth £63million in total.
‘Special’ Szoboszlai can be an elite signing for the Magpies

£61million on Szoboszlai would be another statement of intent from the Toon owners, who will be looking to make a splash this summer if the club qualifies for the Champions League.
It has been claimed that Newcastle want elite players, and Szoboszlai certainly fits that brief. He has been described as ‘special‘, and has proven why this season. He has got eight goals and 13 assists in all competitions this season, which is a very impressive tally.
Howe wants extra creativity ahead of next season. He wants a player who can offer something different either in the middle or out wide. Szoboszlai can do exactly that, and would be a very welcome addition at St James’ Park.
However, he is not going to be cheap.
