Newcastle United want to sign Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad, but they might face competition from Real Madrid.
The 22-year-old was first mentioned as a Toon target in March, but speculation over a move for the Swedish forward ramped up on Tuesday.
That’s because the Telegraph claim that Newcastle are considering a club record move to sign Isak. They add that we have already held talks with his employers Real Sociedad.

It would be another head-turning move by the Toon owners, who have already splashed out on Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman since taking over. Isak would fall into that bracket, which is incredibly exciting.
However, a move for Isak will cost Newcastle a lot of money, and we could also face competition from arguably the biggest club in the world.
Real Madrid want Alexander Isak too
According to 90min, Real Madrid are also interested in the Sweden international. In fact, they reportedly have big plans for him.

They add that Los Blancos want Isak to be backup to Karim Benzema and eventually replace the France international.
That could be difficult to turn down, and highlights how highly rated he is. Earlier in the summer there was talk of Madrid bringing in Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.
Signing Isak would be a step down, but Madrid must see something special in Isak if they believe he can eventually replace Benzema. He’s been one of the best players on the planet over the past 12 months, scoring 44 goals last season.
While it’s unclear how strong Madrid’s interest is in Isak, it will be another obstacle to overcome if we’re to sign the forward.

Talk of Isak joining Newcastle has got Toon fans excited, who are keen to see the club add attacking reinforcements to the squad.
Isak is another player who fits the profile, with the Magpies looking for young signings who have huge potential. Isak is exactly that, and was called a ‘young talented player‘ by Rio Ferdinand in January.
A club record move to St James’ Park would delight the Toon Army.
