Newcastle transfer news: Isak and Gvardiol named as new Toon targets

Alexander Isak and Josko Gvardiol are reportedly on Newcastle United’s radar for this summer’s transfer window.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who have released an extensive list of players the Magpies are discussing.

They state that the club’s scouting team are set to hold a series of meetings to create a list of targets. The club are reportedly eyeing a goalkeeper, centre-back, centre-midfielder, winger and a striker. That’s an advance on last week’s report from The i, that claimed Newcastle were only targeting three positions.

Obviously, it’s a very fluid situation that will no doubt continue to change between now and the summer transfer window closing.

But the players Newcastle are reportedly considering are certainly very exciting.

The list includes names such as Lloyd Kelly and Dean Henderson. They were both linked in January but failed to seal moves to the North East. Since January 31st, the rumours have continued. Henderson especially seems likely to secure a move to St James’ Park.

There are a lot of familiar targets on the list, but this is the first time Isak and Gvardiol have been mentioned.

The former is a striker who currently plays in Spain for Real Sociedad. Meanwhile, the latter is a centre-back who represents RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

Isak is 22-years-old, while Gvardiol is only 20. It’s clear Newcastle want to sign young and exciting talent that can grow at St James’ Park and help carry the club into the future.

It’s also clear that Newcastle want a left-sided centre-back. That’s where Kelly and Gvardiol play, while rumours surrounding Sven Botman refuse to go away.

With the calibre of player being linked to St James’ Park, it’s set to be a very exciting summer. Isak and Gvardiol would certainly be welcome at Newcastle.
