Newcastle transfer news: Toon have held talks about signing Alexander Isak

Newcastle United are now reportedly trying to sign Alexander Isak.

That’s according to the Telegraph, who claim the Magpies are weighing up a club record bid for the 22-year-old forward.

The Real Sociedad ace was first linked with Newcastle back in March, but no move was forthcoming due to his lofty asking price. However, he reentered the conversation at the start of the week.

The Athletic stated that Newcastle have been discussing a move for the Sweden international. They added that head of recruitment Steve Nickson is a big fan.

Well it appears everyone at Newcastle is actually a fan of Isak, and that could lead to him moving to St James’ Park.

Newcastle hierarchy all want to sign Alexander Isak

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle’s decision makers are all in agreement that they should try and sign Isak. That’s despite the fact he will likely cost more than £40million.

The Magpies appear to be willing to break the bank to sign him, and possibly miss out on another signing.

Newcastle are currently looking to bring in a striker and a winger, but the pursuit of a wide player could be put off if we splash out on Isak. That would mean no move for Moussa Diaby, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tyneside.

Eddie Howe’s side are finding the transfer market difficult, with the calibre of attackers they want proving to be very expensive. That’s why they may simply have to go all in on Isak and delay the signing of a new winger.

Bringing in Isak would be another blockbuster signing for the Toon Army. He’s one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards, and has been compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the past.

He’s even impressed Match of the Day host Gary Lineker, who called Isak an ‘exceptional talent‘ last summer.

That exceptional talent could become a Geordie this summer, and the Telegraph add that Newcastle have already held talks with Sociedad.

He would be a very exciting addition for Newcastle United.
