Kamaldeen Sulemana is reportedly on Newcastle United’s transfer shortlist, but the winger will not be joining the Magpies this month.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who state that the 20-year-old is too expensive for Eddie Howe’s side.
The report states that Rennes want £40million for the Ghana international, but that price tag has put Newcastle off a move for the talented speedster.
The Magpies are in the market for a wide forward this month, having failed to land one during the summer. Sulemana was a target at the start of the season, and the Daily Mail state that he has remained on the club’s radar at the start of 2023.
However, a £40million move to St James’ Park is not on the cards. But a Premier League transfer is still a possibility for the Ligue 1 attacker.

Everton could swoop as Newcastle pass on Kamaldeen Sulemana
The Daily Mail add that relegation threatened Everton have asked about signing Sulemana. They want to bring him to Goodison Park on loan initially.
The report adds that a transfer to Everton is possible, with the youngster keen to leave Rennes this month.
He would be a huge boost to their survival hopes, and is a player with a lot of potential. That is why Newcastle wanted him in the summer, and why that interested carried on through to January.
However, finances are stopping a Toon transfer. £40million is a lot of money, especially when you are trying to stay on the right side of financial fair play and your January priority is a centre-midfielder…
Perhaps a loan with an option to buy could have been considered by Newcastle, but it appears that we are no longer in the race to sign Sulemana.
That is a real shame, as he is an exciting forward who could really dazzle the Toon fans with his pace and skill. Sulemana has previously been praised for his ‘incredible speed‘, while he was described as ‘amazing‘ by Erik Sviatchenko, who played against him in Denmark.
But Sulemana is too expensive for Newcastle, who are reluctant to splash the cash this month. That is understandable given the difficulty of the January market. While we could do with more depth, our performances this season have lessened the need for more recruits.
In contrast, Everton desperately need reinforcements, and are going to have to do whatever it takes to avoid relegation to the Championship.
If a move for Sulemana fails to materialise, the Toffees have been offered the chance to sign Ryan Fraser from Newcastle.
