Newcastle United may have received the green light to make an approach for Inter Milan’s Stefan de Vrij this summer.
According to TMW, the Nerazzurri are ready to hear offers for the Netherlands international in the next window.

The publication reports that Inter are reluctant to lose de Vrij for nothing in the summer of 2023.
This summer is therefore a good time to sell.
There is mention that Inter have attempted to tie de Vrij down to a new contract, but no progress has been made.
So it seems the Italian giants are ready to invite interest in the player, who has been a solid performer for Inter over the last few years.
de Vrij has clocked up 155 appearances for the club so far since his move back in 2018.
He has been an integral player, and made key contributions for the club in their surge to the title last season.

Newcastle were linked with a move for de Vrij in January. And there were also reports last month that the Magpies were willing to pay £20 million for the defender.
Now, it seems Inter could be ready to entertain interest from Newcastle.
It is suggested with TMW’s report that Inter would love to secure around £21 million.
Newcastle need to see if de Vrij has changed his stance, as Inter prepare to sell
While it is promising that Inter are willing to sell, Newcastle shouldn’t make a move unless de Vrij indicates he is keen on the project.
Supposedly, he hasn’t fancied a switch to the North East.

If that is still the case in the summer then the Magpies should obviously walk away from the table.
But if he’s had a change of heart, then Newcastle should absolutely fight to sign de Vrij, who is a real leader and consummate professional.
