Newcastle United are reportedly looking to raid Serie A in January, with Inter Milan’s Stefan de Vrij one of the names on their transfer radar.
According to The Times, Newcastle’s new owners see Italy as an ideal market.

Supposedly, de Vrij is a player of interest, as is his Inter teammate Marcelo Brozovic.
Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha is also mentioned as a possible target.
de Vrij has been with Inter since 2018, joining from Lazio.
The Netherlands international has already clocked up 139 appearances for the club.

He has been a brilliant addition for the Nerazzurri, helping the club to win the Scudetto last season.
de Vrij’s contract with Inter expires in the summer of 2023. That means the next window is perhaps the last chance for the club to command a big fee for the centre-back, if an extension isn’t in the offing.
de Vrij would be a sensational signing by Newcastle
Now we are talking.
Newcastle completing a move for de Vrij would be hugely exciting.

The 29-year-old is a top-class central defender, who has been operating in a top five European league since 2014.
Newcastle’s leaky backline is desperate for a bit of quality and 54-cap international de Vrij would be a truly fantastic addition.
Not only is he a top player, but he is a consummate professional who is meticulous in his approach to football, as suggested in a brilliant long-read article from The Correspondent last year.
He constantly studies his own game, looking at even the most minuscule things to try and improve.
