Newcastle United are interested in signing Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea, and it is now clear how much a permanent deal will cost.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Blues want a fee of £17.5million to sell the Moroccan attacker this month.

Ziyech’s future at Stamford Bridge is currently uncertain, despite him starting Chelsea’s previous two games.

He is on Newcastle’s radar, as Eddie Howe continues to scour the market for a forward to replace the departed Chris Wood.

Anthony Gordon is the Magpies’ top target, but the club appear to have a contingency plan.

Ziyech looks like the next name on the list, with the Telegraph claiming that Newcastle could make a move for the 29-year-old if Everton refuse to lower their asking price for Gordon.

Hakim Ziyech a much cheaper option for Newcastle

It has been claimed that Newcastle want to pay around £40million in total for Gordon, but it now appears that Ziyech is available for more than half that amount.

Di Marzio claims that Chelsea value him at £17.5million, which would make him much more affordable for Dan Ashworth. The report adds that his price could even be lowered during negotiations.

However, Di Marzio states that Roma are interested too, and are considering a move for Ziyech to replace Nicolo Zaniolo. He appears to be on his way to Bournemouth.

A deal with Roma might suit Chelsea more, as it would mean they are not strengthening a Premier League rival.

It has already been reported by the Evening Standard that Graham Potter’s side are reluctant to send Ziyech on loan to Newcastle. We are now considered a rival following the Saudi-backed takeover in October 2021.

The league table would actually suggest that Newcastle have already overtaken Chelsea, with 10 points currently separating the two sides after 20 Premier League games.

While Chelsea are reluctant to do a loan deal, a permanent switch might be slightly more appealing. And for less than £20million, he could be an astute addition at St James’ Park if a deal for Gordon cannot be reached.

But while he is available for a decent fee, Chelsea will surely be more inclined to send the ‘incredible‘ World Cup star to Italy if the option arises.
