Everton have lowered their asking price for Anthony Gordon, but it is still more than the amount that Newcastle United have reportedly offered.

According to 90min, the Magpies’ biggest bid for the 21-year-old is £40million. As part of that deal, £30million would be paid upfront with another £10million worth of add-ons.

However, that is still shy of the figure that Everton are looking for. After initially valuing Gordon at £60million, they have now changed their mind.

90min state that the Toffees are currently looking to receive an offer worth £55million before they agree to let the winger leave Goodison Park.

That means Newcastle are currently £15million away from doing a deal, as Eddie Howe looks to add the attacker to his Champions League chasing squad.

Anthony Gordon looking to force through Newcastle move

Newcastle’s interest in Gordon is turning into quite the saga, and things are starting to get messy.

It has been reported by multiple outlets that he failed to turn up for training on Thursday, meaning he has now missed three days of work at Finch Farm. However, there are conflicting reports that the first and/or second day off was planned by Everton.

It looks like Gordon is trying to force though a move to St James’ Park, such is his desire to join Howe’s side.

With the player keen to move, it surely makes sense for Everton to sell. They need the money so they can add much-needed additions to their squad before Tuesday night’s transfer deadline.

Obviously they want the best deal possible for them, which means getting as much money as possible. In contrast, Newcastle want to spend as little as possible.

But with a willing buyer and a player desperate to leave, a compromise will surely be reached.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes that personal terms are already agreed between Newcastle and Everton, meaning all that is left is for the two clubs to agree a price.

However, there is still a £15million gap that needs bridging between the Magpies and the Toffees as it stands.
