Newcastle United have tried on multiple occasions to sign Raphinha since PIF bought the club, and now another opportunity could be on the horizon.

Despite Newcastle‘s desire, Raphinha joined Barcelona last summer. He left Leeds United for £55million, but could already be on the move again ahead of next season.

While Barcelona are on course to win La Liga and qualify for the Champions League, they are still enduring financial difficulty. That could reportedly lead to Raphinha being sold, despite the Brazil international boasting 19 goal contributions in all competitions since his arrival.

He could already be sold after just one season, and Newcastle are reportedly keeping an eye on the situation.

Newcastle continue to track Raphinha

According to the Daily Mail, both Newcastle and Arsenal are keeping an eye on Raphinha’s situation as rumours circulate that he could be sold.

The report states that the 26-year-old is one of the most likely players to be sold as Barca looks to improve their financial situation.

That could create an opportunity for Eddie Howe, who is a big fan of the Brazilian attacker.

Eddie Howe’s ‘dream signing’

While Barcelona were able to sign Raphinha last summer, he was also a target for Newcastle. He was described as a ‘dream signing’ for Howe.

However, Raphinha’s dream was to sign for Barcelona. Now that dream could be ending, with talk that he could be moved on already.

It is no surprise to see Newcastle sniffing around, as they have been linked with him a lot since the change of ownership. The Magpies made a bid to sign him during the first transfer window after the takeover, but it was turned down by Leeds.

Then interest continued into the summer, but it was Barcelona who won the race to sign him.

Now they could look to sell, and a transfer to Newcastle could suddenly be very appealing if we qualify for the Champions League.
