Things could be changing at Newcastle United this season.

While the January transfer window proved a very frustrating time of things on the FFP front, Newcastle may be set for a big summer.

Indeed, reports from iNews earlier this year suggested fans could expect a large summer rebuild at St James’ Park.

Clearly, that is exciting, particularly after the relatively slow January window. Still, players arriving may mean some have to depart.

Both Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton have been linked with a move away in what would be huge blows for Newcastle. Meanwhile, Callum Wilson has again been touted for an exit, along with Miguel Almiron.

Another, it seems, could follow.

Newcastle transfer news: Loris Karius latest

According to The Chronicle, goalkeeper Loris Karius could leave St James’ Park this summer.

Though his departure would hardly be as headline news as either Guimaraes or Joelinton, the report does add that Eddie Howe is open to extending the 30-year-old’s contract, which is currently due to expire this summer.

However, a host Serie A clubs are reportedly keen on the former Liverpool stopper, who recently made his first appearance since the Carabao Cup final during the defeat to Arsenal.

Loris Karius: Newcastle won’t miss goalkeeper

Though it’s nice to see Karius restore his career to some sort of normality given what happened towards the end of his time with Liverpool, it would be too much to suggest Newcastle would miss him.

With Nick Pope expected back from injury soon and Martin Dubravka having impressed of late, the goalkeeping department looks relatively strong right now, fitness permitting.

In an ideal world, Newcastle would either promote a young custodian from the academy or sign a younger option to back-up both Pope and Dubravka while learning from them.

Karius would not be a particularly big miss going forward, with all due respect.
