PSG now keen on signing another Newcastle player after showing interest in Bruno Guimaraes

This is not the first time that PSG have shown an interest in a Newcastle United player after they tried to persuade Bruno Guimaraes to join them last month.

The Brazilian has claimed many times that he is happy with Newcastle and has no plans to leave, though the right deal could still be enough to tempt him away, especially if there’s no European football next year.

Now, a new report from HITC is suggesting that PSG also want to sign Bruno’s teammate Joelinton in a double Newcastle swoop as they look to bolster their midfield options.

£40m Newcastle hero could be on his way out

With just 18 months left on his current contract and no rumours of ongoing talks between him and the club, Joelinton could well be on his way out of the club if they don’t come to an agreement soon.

The Brazilian’s incredible and unexpected rise under Eddie Howe has made him one of the first names on the teamsheet and clearly Joelinton feels like he’s earned a significant pay rise.

His friendship with international teammate Bruno, who is likely the highest paid player at the club, will also have impacted his decision as he quite obviously will know the different wages they are both on.

Newcastle need to approach this situation with caution, of course, but it would be a big risk to sell the £40m signing who is absolutely crucial to the way Newcastle play in adding some physicality to the midfield.

Newcastle cannot afford a double blow to PSG

Bruno and Joelinton effectively are Newcastle’s midfield, sell them and you’re left struggling to fit together a competent team that’s capable of winning a game.

Losing them both would no doubt bring in huge fees and massively raise the summer budget, but you’re losing out on guaranteed Premier League and now Champions League experience with players who are deeply connected to the club already.

In theory you could bring in another two midfielders who could impress and do a similar job, but it all just feels relatively pointless when you’ve already got two who are doing a fantastic job at the moment.

Both players are also hugely adored and worshipped by the supporters, it would be a massive blow to lose that personal connection to the team which was been established in the last two years.
