Indeed, Miguel Almiron may be leaving Newcastle having rejected a move away back in January, while Callum Wilson could also depart.
It remains to be seen how much of an impact FFP limitations have on Newcastle this summer but it would be fair to say a new forward may be on the agenda.
While goals weren’t much of a problem in the Premier League for Eddie Howe’s side last season, neither Almiron nor Wilson were without complications.
Almiron frustrated at times and did not manage to equal his haul of the season before, while Wilson continued to struggle with injury issues.
As such, a number of players are being linked.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been touted as a target, as well as Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
Crystal Palace’s £60m-rated star Michael Olise is also said to be of interest but reports now claim the club could look elsewhere.
Newcastle could switch focus in attempts to sign a new forward
According to journalist Dean Jones on GIVEMESPORT, the club are prepared to look further beyond than only the Premier League when it comes to potential recruits.
Clearly, signing players already based in the English top-flight has its benefits. By and large, they are likely to be proven in what is widely regarded as the best league in the world.
Still, according to Jones, the club appreciate that doing business with domestic rivals comes at a premium and there may well be better value abroad.

Olise is a man in-demand this summer after excelling at Palace amid reported interest from Chelsea and Manchester United too.
However, according to David Ornstein, the winger may actually be more tempted by the idea of joining a club playing Champions League football.
