For the third transfer window in a row, Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Amadou Onana.
The Belgian midfielder signed for Everton last summer, but was also the subject of interest from Newcastle. The Magpies looked at possibly signing Onana from Lille, but missed out to the Toffees.
Eddie Howe’s side then looked at Onana again in January, as they pondered a mid-season move for the 21-year-old during just his first year at Goodison Park.
That is a testament to his potential and how well he has done for Everton, and now Newcastle are keen again.
Newcastle keeping tabs on Everton midfielder Amadou Onana
According to i News, Newcastle are keeping an eye on Onana, with the Magpies keen to discover whether or not Everton are willing to sell him.

It would be a shock if they were, considering they spent £33million on him last summer. The fact that they have survived in the Premier League should also strengthen their ability to keep him on Merseyside.
However, Onana is a major talent, and is certainly capable of playing at a higher level. Had things gone differently, Onana could be a Championship player. That is not befitting of a man who Roberto Martinez called ‘really exciting‘ and ‘one of the most talented young players at that age in European football’.
The Belgium international has certainly lived up to the hype, which is why Newcastle are still keen to sign him despite missing out when he was at Lille. Onana is the kind of athletic enforcer that Howe is looking to add to his midfield, while he also now has the benefit of boasting Premier League experience.
He would be a welcome addition to Howe’s squad, where he would link up with a couple of familiar faces. Onana played at Lille with Botman, where they competed in the Champions League together. A move would also see Onana reunite with Anthony Gordon, who he spent half a season with at Everton.
You can imagine both players would paint an incredibly bright picture of Newcastle if they were asked what it is like by their former teammate Onana, who could get the chance to play in Europe’s elite competition once again with a move to Tyneside.
