Garang Kuol is now closing in on his second loan move away from Newcastle United.
The teenager spent the second half of last season on loan at Hearts and struggled for minutes. However, he did enjoy his experience north of the border.
Kuol is now set for another temporary departure, and it was recently reported that a deal for him to leave the club on loan again was very close.
Now the Athletic have confirmed where the Aussie is heading for the 2023/24 season.
Garang Kuol to sign for Volendam on loan
According to the Athletic, Kuol is close to signing for FC Volendam on loan for the season.

The report states that while Championship clubs were keen to sign the 18-year-old, Newcastle wanted him to go abroad to continue his development.
The Athletic add that Volendam is the chosen destination because the Eredivisie has a reputation for enhancing young players. It is where Yankuba Minteh has gone too, with the winger joining Feyenoord on loan immediately after his permanent move to Newcastle was confirmed.
A deal appears to be very close, with the Athletic stating that Kuol just needs his work permit to be finalised before the move can be completed.
Smart decision by Newcastle
Initially, it sounded like a move to a Championship club would be best for Kuol. It would allow him to continue adapting to British life, as well as keeping him relatively close to Newcastle so that the club could follow his develoment.
But in hindsight, this is perhaps the better option.

When Kuol was at Hearts, there was a big spotlight on him. Given the reputation of Scottish football, Toon fans expected the youngster to play every week. However, that did not happen. In fact, he barely played at all.
There was a lot of noise about Kuol and his development, which may or may not have been a hinderance.
But a move to the Netherlands should eliminate that. With less cameras on him, he will be able to focus on his game and continue improving as a player.
Of course, we will be able to follow his journey with Volendam, but it will be easier for him to fade into the background unlike at Hearts.
Hopefully the move proves to be a success!
