Yankuba Minteh will officially become a Newcastle United player on July 1st.
The deal has been imminent for a couple of weeks, but now the club have officially announced that the 18-year-old is going to join the Magpies after Newcastle agreed a deal with Danish club Odense BK.
The deal has Dan Ashworth’s fingerprints all over it, as he adds another exciting teenager to the Newcastle squad with the hope that he will develop into a Premier League star.
That will hopefully be the case, and Geordie Boot Boys were recently told by Danish football expert Toke Theilade that Minteh can become a ‘special’ player and that this is a deal that Toon fans should be excited about.
However, it will be a while before we see the Gambian play for the Magpies. That is because he will immediately go out on loan, and the destination speaks volumes about how talented Minteh already is.

Newcastle immediately send Yankuba Minteh to Feyenoord
As part of the club’s Minteh announcement, Newcastle confirmed that he will spend the 2023/24 season on loan at Feyenoord.
That is a big deal. They are the Eredivisie champions, and will be competing alongside us in next season’s Champions League. The Dutch side play wonderful football under Arne Slot, who was heavily linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job before they appointed Ange Postecoglu.
For them to take Minteh on loan for a year says a lot about how good he already is. When it first emerged that he would immediately be going out on loan, I never dreamt that it would be to a team as strong as Feyenoord.
The move should excite Toon fans, as it suggests that Minteh is already an exceptional talent – so much so that the Dutch title winners want him in their squad ahead of competing in the Champions League.

In comparison, Garang Kuol went to Hearts, who are nowhere near the same level as the Rotterdam club. And he is hyped as one of the most exciting teenagers in world football.
This move would suggest that Minteh is a level above. Hopefully he gets plenty of minutes at Feyenoord, and can perhaps even get the chance to sample some Champions League football.
