Newcastle United are reigniting their interest in Moussa Diaby this summer, but he is not the only Bayer Leverkusen player that Eddie Howe has his eye on.
Leverkusen are enjoying a new lease of life under Xabi Alonso after a slow start to the season, but their squad could be torn apart when the summer transfer window opens.
Diaby is a man in demand, with Newcastle keen to bring him to St James’ Park. It has been reported that the Toon owners are willing to spend big to get the Frenchman, and are even prepared to break the club’s transfer record.
However, one of Diaby’s teammates has also caught Newcastle’s attention, and he will cost a lot less money.
Newcastle also interested in Amine Adli
According to the Guardian, Newcastle are considering whether or not to make a formal move for Amine Adli. He is a 23-year-old winger who plays alongside Diaby at the BayArena.

The report states the Magpies have registered their interest in Adli, who will cost more than £30million this summer. The Guardian add that Leverkusen boss Alonso is keen to build his attack around Adli next season.
That could be because Diaby might not be there anymore. The Guardian state that Leverkusen are more open to the France international leaving this summer compared to Adli.
Diaby would be a better signing for Newcastle
That could open the door for Newcastle to sign Diaby, who could be available for around £60million.

Obviously both players are of interest, but Diaby would be the better addition. He is a long term target, and is much more clinical in the final third compared to Adli. This season, Diaby has got 25 goal contributions compared to Adli’s tally of 12.
Diaby is already performing at an elite level, and appears destined to join a major club in the coming months. That is what Newcastle are looking to become, and qualifying for the Champions League will massively boost the club’s stature in the world game.
While Adli will cost less money, it is Diaby who the Magpies should be pursuing.
