Newcastle United have been heavily linked with RB Leipzig playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai, but now they have their eye on his teammate too.
That is according to a report from 90min, who claim that Newcastle scouts were in Germany at the weekend to watch Leipzig’s 3-1 win over Bayern Munich.
It has been claimed that Toon officials had eyes on Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard, but there were also a couple of Leipzig players who were of interest.
Newcastle watch Dani Olmo play for RB Leipzig against Bayern Munich
According to 90min, Newcastle scouts were keeping tabs on Szoboszlai and Dani Olmo.
Szoboszlai is not a new name on the Magpies’ radar. He has been heavily linked with a move to Tyneside in recent weeks, although it has been suggested that he could be too expensive.

That could force Newcastle to look for an alternative, and they might not have to look very far. The club are also taking a look at Olmo, who plays in a similar position to Szoboszlai.
The 25-year-old is an attacking midfielder who can also play on the left and right of attack. He is a versatile forward who possesses real guile in possession, and has got 14 goal contributions for Leipzig this season.
The Spaniard initially came through the Barcelona academy, before taking his talents to Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb. Now a move to England could be on the horizon, with Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool keeping an eye on the playmaker.
He has the Champions League experience that the Magpies are looking for, having booked their place in next season’s competition thanks to a 0-0 draw with Leicester City on Monday.
Howe needs to improve his squad in multiple areas, and Olmo would certainly be a good addition. He is a ‘fantastic‘ player in the eyes of Pep Guardiola, who knows a thing or two about the beautiful game – but that’s obvious, coming form a man who called Howe a ‘genius‘ recently.
