Newcastle United are searching north of the border for players they can turn into superstars.

Paul Mitchell is intent on bringing high quality youngsters to Newcastle United, as he aims to avoid more PSR problems. Mitchell knows Newcastle need to take more risks in the transfer market, as they aim to sign high potential players from untapped markets.

The Magpies have already done that recently, with Newcastle signing Vakhtang Salia. The Georgian teenager will join the club from Dinamo Tbilisi next summer, with Newcastle already planning to loan Salia out.

He is an extremely exciting talent, and now Newcastle are looking for more teenage additions.

Newcastle United interested in Lennon Miller

But while Toon scouts have travelled all the way to Georgia to identify Salia, the recruitment team have now found a potential signing who plays his football up at Motherwell.

That is according to TBR Football insider Graeme Bailey, who has told Geordie Boot Boys that Newcastle United are one of multiple Premier League clubs interested in signing Lennon Miller from the Scottish Premiership side.

“He is a tremendous prospect,” he said.

“Celtic and Rangers were hoping he was still under the radar a little bit, as they thought it would be a battle between them two. But the English teams have really started to flock over the past six to eight weeks. I am told that more than half of the Premier League are looking at Lennon Miller, while Leeds United are also watching him.

“Newcastle like him. They really have a good history now of picking up these 18 and 19-year-olds. Newcastle have watched him and like him. He can play anywhere in midfield. Newcastle are firmly in the mix, and it will be up to the player. He’s a good tactician and a really good player.”

Lennon Miller to Newcastle ‘feels like a no-brainer’

Newcastle like what they see from Miller, and Bailey believes he is a risk worth taking, with a deal possibly costing up to £5million.

“He is potentially one of the best young players in Scotland, and we are talking about a deal worth probably a maximum of £5million,” he added.

“That does not even get you a good Championship player nowadays. That’s why Scottish football is getting a lot of interest now, there’s value up there.

“You have got to take a chance on some of these players. It feels like a no-brainer.

“For Newcastle, they would see him as one for the future, but not necessarily the distant future.”

Who is Lennon Miller?

Miller is only 18-years-old, but he already has a wealth of senior experience.

The teenager has already made more than 50 senior appearances for Motherwell, having made his debut for the Lanarkshire club just six days after turning 16.

He has already captained Motherwell, while he has got four goals and four assists from 19 games this season.

Miller is versatile too. He can go both ways, capable of operating as an attacking midfielder and a defensive midfielder.

That is why Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers want him, but now they face competition from the likes of Newcastle United.
