Unai Emery has delivered an important message to Newcastle United ahead of Tuesday night’s game at Villa Park.
The Magpies are preparing to face Aston Villa, and it looks like Eddie Howe‘s side will be heading to the West Midlands with no new signings.
It has been a frustrating January transfer window so far, with Newcastle unable to sign anyone as we head into the final few days. The Magpies need to sell before they buy, which has put them in a difficult situation.
But they continue to look for possible signings, and the latest name to be linked is Jacob Ramsey. Newcastle have reportedly asked Aston Villa about the 22-year-old, with claims that he will cost at least £50million.
That is a huge amount of money, but it sounds like Ramsey is actually priceless to Aston Villa manager Unai Emery.
Unai Emery says Jacob Ramsey is staying at Aston Villa
Emery has spoke to the media ahead of Villa’s game against Newcastle, and was asked about Ramsey’s future.
“Jacob Ramsey is a very important player,” he told the Birmingham Mail.
“He grew up in the academy and his progression is getting better.
“His level is increasing a lot and I want to keep him here with us. Of course, there are movements (speculation) around him.
“Maybe there are teams involved in the possibility to sign him because he has a big, big potential at Villa and in England. I want to keep him here, 100%.”

More disappointing transfer news for Newcastle
Ramsey, who is a doubt for Tuesday night’s game, is going absolutely nowhere. That is Emery’s stance, with the Spaniard making it very clear that the midfielder is not for sale.
His stance is not surprising, and it is actually testament to Ramsey’s ability.
Based on Emery’s comments, it looks like Newcastle will have to turn their attention elsewhere. That is a shame, as Ramsey ticks a lot of boxes for the Magpies right now.
He is an athletic ball-winning midfielder, while he is also creative enough to play out wide. And he has a huge amount of potential, as Emery says.
But he wants Ramsey to continue realising that potential in claret and blue, rather than black and white. That is a blow for Newcastle, who continue to struggle to make their mark in the January transfer window.
