Newcastle United will have to fend off multiple clubs to keep hold of Alexander Isak in 2025.

The 25-year-old has been in superb form for Newcastle United and now boasts a goal record of 11 goals in 16 Premier League matches – seven have come in the last five games.

Alexander Isak was incredible against Aston Villa and he continued his scoring streak in the emphatic 3-0 victory. After the full-time whistle, Eddie Howe admitted he wouldn’t swap Isak with anyone in world football.

Newcastle are “bewildered” by Isak transfer rumours, but his impressive form on Tyneside will only ramp up speculation ahead of the January window.

During the summer, Arsenal were linked with Isak while Chelsea also showed an interest. Now, Premier League rivals Liverpool have thrown their name into the hat.

Liverpool interest in Alexander Isak hinges on Mohamed Salah

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle have placed a whopping £150m price tag on Alexander Isak as they look to fend off interest in his signature again.

Newcastle think Isak can get even better and are desperate to keep hold of him in 2025, with contract talks set to resume in the summer if the Magpies are able to meet his demands. European qualification would certainly help those negotiations.

The same Telegraph report claims Liverpool could make a move for Isak as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.

As it stands, Salah is set to leave Anfield as a free agent in the summer when his contract expires. If that is the case, the Reds could turn to Isak as a replacement for the Egyptian star.

Liverpool are one of five clubs showing an interest in Isak with PSG also tracking the striker alongside Barcelona, Real Madrid and Arsenal.

How Newcastle United chiefs feel about Alexander Isak leaving

Even if Newcastle are struggling to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules, selling Isak to solve those issues would be highly controversial.

In many ways, the Swedish star is priceless. Isak has been Newcastle’s best player in 2024 and he is only getting better. Even at a price of £150m, his exit would be a huge blow.

Newcastle chiefs are confident that Isak will not leave in January, but interest in him is bound to rage on until the summer.

Isak is under contract until 2028, but if he pushes to leave St James’ Park in the summer the club may have no option but to cash in on him while his value is high.

However, a new contract could be on the cards, especially if Newcastle can return to Europe. The Magpies can take a step closer to that goal by beating Manchester United on Monday evening.
