Newcastle United face a lot of competition in the race to sign Liam Delap.
That is a credit to Liam Delap’s agent, according to former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster.
The striker is set to leave Ipswich Town this summer, and it looks all but certain that a relegation release clause will be active.
If Ipswich go down, clubs can sign Liam Delap for £30million.
That represents serious value for a striker who has scored 12 Premier League goals this season.
That is why Newcastle want Delap, while the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked.

Ben Foster says 10-12 ‘big’ clubs will want Liam Delap
In the eyes of Ben Foster, Delap will have at least 10 ‘big boy’ teams trying to secure his signature.
He believes that is a testament to Delap’s agent, who was able to include an incredibly affordable relegation release clause when the forward joined Ipswich last summer.
“Liam Delap’s agent has produced like you would not believe,” Foster said on his official YouTube channel.
“He deserves all the pats on the back from Liam that he is going to get. What is going to happen is Liam Delap will have 10-12 big boy teams looking at him, wanting to sign him.
“They’ll be already getting into his agent going ‘bring him to us, we will give him a £10million signing-on fee, we’ll give him £150,000-a-week’. He’ll have 10 of them doing that. Then he’ll go to the next club and go ‘they’re offering us £150,000-a-week and a £10million signing-on, so if you can beat that by £160,000…’.
“He can go anywhere. He is probably the most hottest property player in the Premier League at this moment in time. He’d suit Man United down to the ground. He’d suit Chelsea. He’d do well for Arsenal.”
Liam Delap open to Newcastle United transfer
With Callum Wilson likely to leave and Will Osula yet to be trusted, it is clear that Eddie Howe needs reinforcements in attack.
That is why Ipswich’s leading scorer has been linked, while it has been claimed that Delap is open to joining Newcastle United.
However, that might depend on what the Magpies can offer him. Delap wants to be first choice wherever he goes, which could be difficult at St James’ Park given the presence of Alexander Isak. It has been reported that Delap to Newcastle is unlikely, as his representatives believe that Isak is staying at St James’ Park.
Delap will choose the project that appeals to him the most and can benefit his career, and there is no denying that the Newcastle United project is extremely exciting.
