Reported Newcastle United transfer target Kris Ajer is ‘outstanding’ and ‘an unbelievable professional’.
That is the verdict of ex-Magpies midfielder Lee Clark, who has been speaking about the Norway international on the NUFC Matters YouTube channel.

Ajer remains heavily linked with Newcastle.
It was claimed a few days ago that he is all set to become the club’s first signing of the summer.
However there have since been claims that Bayer Leverkusen have entered the race for the centre-half.
One suspects it won’t be a straightforward deal.
Lots of fans are hoping to see him pitch up at St. James’ Park, and Clark – who has managed Ajer at Kilmarnock – is definitely part of the ‘Ajer in’ camp.

He said: “He is an outstanding player. I have seen quotes of £6-8 million out there – he is definitely a player you can improve and he will be worth a lot more than that.
“When we had him at Kilmarnock he used to play centre-mid with Sean (Longstaff), I had the two of them in there.
“He is an unbelievable professional – he was captain of Norway when he was still a teenager.”
Clark testimony is encouraging
Clearly Ajer has fantastic potential.

Between this and the comparisons to Virgil van Dijk, he seems like someone who could make a big impact.
It’s possible the club could be losing both Federico Fernandez and Florian Lejeune this summer, and Newcastle just need to get it done.
