Newcastle United could reportedly cash in on Florian Lejeune this summer in order to try and boost their transfer kitty.
The central defender spent the 2020/21 season on loan at La Liga side Deportivo Alaves.

The move was a success for the player, who was a regular starter for the club.
He made 36 appearances in total.
It had been decided that Lejeune would head back to his homeland after more injury problems for the Magpies in 2020/21.

According to the Shields Gazette, he is ‘likely’ to be sold this summer before he’s allowed to go into the final year of his contract.
There’s no mention of an asking price, but realistically Newcastle likely won’t get more than the £8.7 million they reportedly paid Eibar to sign him in 2017 (Sky Sports).
Not everyone will like this
Plans to sell Lejeune will not please everybody.
He’s had his fair share of injury problems since coming to English football.

But Lejeune – many fans say – is arguably Newcastle’s best defender when everyone is fit.
That said, his status as an injury prone player may be playing a part in Newcastle’s plan, as well as the need to raise funds.
