Transfer deadline day was a bit of a non-event for Newcastle United, but they did at least move a player on who desperately needed a move.
Before deadline day, we stated that Isaac Hayden was the Newcastle player who most needed a move away from St James’ Park before the window slammed shut.
That happened in the final hours, as the 28-year-old agreed a loan move to Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
It will hopefully be a great loan move for Hayden, as he looks to get his career back on track. In an ideal world, he will perform so well at Loftus Road that he earns a permanent move in the summer.
Hayden will wear the number 14 shirt for QPR, and could potentially make his debut on Saturday against Blackburn Rovers.
Whether or not he makes his first appearance this weekend, he is in safe hands in West London.

Jamie Reuben reacts as Newcastle send Isaac Hayden on loan to QPR
That is the view of Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben, who has delivered a message to Hayden on X (formerly known as Twitter) after the deal was confirmed.
He wrote: “Good luck Isaac – you’re in safe hands.”
Reuben has history with QPR. He was a member of the board there, but resigned from his position in October 2020 while the Newcastle takeover saga was rumbling on. One year later, the deal to buy the Magpies was completed.
Hayden will play alongside a former Newcastle teammate
It is great to see Hayden get a move. Hopefully he plays regularly in the Championship and can get back to his best. The most important thing will be staying fit, having suffered some major injury problems over the past few years.
The move to QPR will see him play alongside Jack Colback once again. They were teammates at Newcastle United, and actually started in midfield together when the Magpies kicked off their 2016/17 Championship campaign away to Fulham.
Now the midfield duo are reunited, and will look to roll back the years in blue and white hoops rather than black and white stripes.
As Jamie Reuben says, good luck Isaac! Hopefully you smash it.
