Newcastle United’s valuation of Anthony Elanga may be some way below Nottingham Forest’s.

As was the case last summer, Newcastle United are interested in signing Elanga

Indeed, Newcastle have enquired about Elanga, who is coming off a fine season at the City Ground.

The 23-year-old scored six goals and registered 11 assists in 38 Premier League games as Forest qualified for the Conference League.

Forest value Elanga at over £50million, though it appears decision-makers at St James’ Park do not agree.

How much Newcastle United want to pay for Anthony Elanga

According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle would be willing to pay around an initial £35million for the Sweden international.

While there would be scope to add a series of add-ons if the winger were to perform well should he sign, around £35million is their current valuation of the player.

It remains to be seen if Forest would consider that kind of arrangement.

The report adds that the club are adamant they won’t sell for under their valuation, although the exact payment structure they’re demanding is not clear.

Anthony Elanga’s salary demands to join Newcastle United

When buying a player, it’s not just the transfer fee involved to consider.

The wages involved also impact the club’s position with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR)

Indeed, Newcastle were put off by Bryan Mbeumo’s wage demands, which ultimately proved prohibitive for them.

Luckily, Elanga wouldn’t demand astronomical wages to join Newcastle. That’s a major boost, although they still need to work out a deal with Forest, which doesn’t look like it will be easy.

However, at least the wages don’t appear to be a huge problem. That’s not to say he’ll come cheaply, but perhaps Newcastle won’t encounter the same problem as they did with Mbeumo.

If Newcastle can negotiate a favourable deal with Forest, Elanga looks a very logical addition indeed.
