How Dominic Calvert-Lewin feels about leaving Everton as Newcastle consider late bid

Newcastle United have shown an interest in Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer with the need to bolster their attack.

It has certainly been a frustrating one for Eddie Howe who has seen his squad weakened over recent months following the lack of arrivals.

Despite the arrival of Paul Mitchell after Dan Ashworth’s departure, Newcastle‘s summer business has left a lot to be desired.

Newcastle have failed to deliver on Howe’s demands to bring in a new centre-back and right-winger this summer.

With just a matter of hours now remaining in the window, Newcastle are still exploring their options to add some quality to their squad.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on Newcastle’s radar

Everton have gotten off to a dismal start in the Premier League with two heavy defeats from their opening two games.

And the future of Calvert-Lewin now hangs in the balance with less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Goodison Park.

Newcastle are considering a late bid for Calvert-Lewin this week with Everton potentially at risk of losing him for free in the coming year.

According to Caught Offside, Calvert-Lewin is now open to the prospect of leaving Merseyside this week.

But the Toon are not the only side who are showing an interest in the 27-year-old striker this week with interest there from other Premier League clubs.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also believed to be in the mix with the Everton striker seemingly having opportunities to play at a club with bigger aspirations than the Toffees.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin would provide similar issues to Callum Wilson

One thing which is certain, any potential late arrival for Calvert-Lewin would not see Alexander Isak uprooted from his spot up top.

The Swede has done more than enough to nail down his spot in the starting XI as he proves himself to be one of the league’s top strikers.

So, the backup spot is what Calvert-Lewin would be competing for but he has also suffered considerable injury issues like Callum Wilson.

Neither Calvert-Lewin or Wilson have proven themselves to be reliable options over recent years with their injury issues hindering their output in front of goal.

Calvert-Lewin has been hailed as ‘fantastic‘ in the past and perhaps he is now just in need of a new surrounding.
