One of Newcastle United’s loan players has recently been urged to make the move away from the North East permanent.
Eddie Howe and Ryan Fraser have a troubled relationship having fallen out at both Bournemouth and Newcastle in the last few years and now the winger’s time in the North East looks to be up.
Fraser was sent out on loan to Southampton in the summer where he’s been back to his best from and now, speaking to BBC Radio Solent, former player Jo Tessem has urged him to make it permanent.
Fraser’s time is up at Newcastle
Although he still has one year left on his contract after this season, it does not look like Fraser will ever play another game for Newcastle after his falling out with Howe.
Both player and manager have been very professional, at least in public, in speaking on what went on between the two during their time in the North East and it does not look like there is any bad blood.
Fraser looks to be back to his best in the Championship with a Southampton side who are eyeing up a return back to the Premier League this season as they currently sit third just two points behind Leeds.
The 29-year-old has worked his way into the starting 11 and now has eight goals and three assists to his name in 30 appearances and has now been urged to make a permanent move to the south coast.
On Fraser, Tessem said: “He is an exceptional football player, quick, and finds his position very good in there, causing problems.
“For him, getting back to the Premier League with Southampton and getting a new life into him would be absolutely fantastic because he has Premier League quality, and when he gets up to his best, it is pretty close. I think he has more to give and I think we need to get him signed for next season, whatever happens.”

Magpies set for summer clear out
While Newcastle have already gotten rid of a number of players who were deemed to be taking up space in the wage budget, there are still some at the club who need to be moved on.
Fraser along with Isaac Hayden have no future on Tyneside but both are contracted to be there until 2025 unless they are sold on in the summer which would be ideal for Howe who will need as much investment into his squad as possible.
Newcastle are also still holding onto the likes of Paul Dummett and Mark Gillespie who rarely feature, though their contracts are set to expire in just a few months time.
No doubt they won’t be able to gather huge fees for the pair, but the amount they will be saving on wages could potentially be used on someone like Joelinton who is after a new and improved contract.
