Newcastle United suddenly face competition from West Ham United for one of their attacking targets.
The Magpies could look towards the Championship as they aim to add a new winger to their squad.
Leeds United youngster Wilfried Gnonto has been linked with a move to Newcastle United, but it is his teammate that is the more appealing target.
Crysencio Summerville is also on Newcastle’s radar, as Eddie Howe aims to bring in a winger to join Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon in attack.
Between Summerville and Gnonto, the former would be a better fit. And it has been reported that Leeds are willing to sell Summerville after missing out on promotion.
The 22-year-old is a target for multiple Premier League clubs, with Brighton making a move for Summerville in June. A deal did not materialise, but now another one of Newcastle’s rivals are testing the water with an approach.

West Ham make their move to sign Crysencio Summerville
Summerville is one of Newcastle’s winger targets ahead of the new season, but there has been no talk of an approach from the Magpies.
However, there has been an approach from West Ham United.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who has wrote on X: “West Ham have submitted initial proposal to Leeds United for Crysencio Summerville. Talks took place also on player side, but still not close, considered very expensive.”
Romano adds that Roma are also interested in Summerville, but only if they fail to sign Matias Soule from Juventus.
West Ham keep delivering blows to Newcastle United
West Ham appear to be accelerating their efforts to sign Summerville from Leeds, even if there is an acceptance that he will be ‘very expensive’.
If they can secure a deal for the talented Dutchman, it would represent another example of the Hammers getting one over on Newcastle this summer.
West Ham have already signed Max Kilman, who Newcastle tried to bring to St James’ Park. They are also aiming to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa, who has been named as a target for Newcastle. And if that does happen, it would make it unlikely that West Ham try and land Callum Wilson.
On top of all that, Newcastle want to sign Jarrod Bowen, but Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Bowen is not too enthused about joining Newcastle.
Instead, he looks likely to stay at West Ham, where he could potentially be joined by Summerville.
West Ham are at least trying to make a deal a reality, after submitting an ‘initial proposal’ to Leeds.
That will either spark Newcastle into life, or it may suggest that Paul Mitchell has an alternative target in mind if the Magpies fail to challenge West Ham.
