Newcastle United will miss out on free-agent Adrien Rabiot according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano who now says the Frenchman will re-sign with Juventus.
It now looks as though Newcastle could be set to miss out on a bargain as Juventus have tabled a new offer to keep Adrien Rabiot at the club.
The 28-year-old France international is set to become a free agent in a week’s time which had Newcastle on alert after having shown interest in the midfielder in January following his impressive World Cup displays.
A deal is close between Rabiot and Juventus
However, it now seems as though he’s going nowhere according to Fabrizio Romano who has tweeted: “Juventus hope to get the green light from Adrien Rabiot in the next days to extend the contract and get new deal signed.
There’s optimism to get the agreement done as Rabiot could be free agent next week but Juve proposal is now the best one on the table.”

This will likely come as a relief to a large pocket of Newcastle fans who have voiced their concerns online about signing Rabiot since the club was linked with him at the turn of the year.
Newcastle’s interest in Rabiot likely ended when the Tonali deal was done
Some fans see him as lazy and also question his attitude, believing he wouldn’t pass the famous character test.

On his day there’s no doubting he’s an ‘excellent‘ player, he proved that with his international appearances in Qatar, but there are definitely question marks hanging over him.
With Newcastle now so close to signing Sandro Tonali, it’s likely that our interest in Rabiot had ended anyway. I think we definitely got the better option, even if we have had to pay significantly more.
