Juventus are set to offer Adrien Rabiot a new deal amid reports that Newcastle United have already offered terms to the Frenchman.

At the end of this month ‘excellentFrance international Adrien Rabiot will become a free agent when his Juventus contract expires.

Newcastle have been interested in Rabiot for a long time and have reportedly made an offer to the 28-year-old to come to Tyneside this summer.

Fabrizio Romano says Juventus will struggle to compete with PL proposals

Juventus, however, aren’t giving up without a fight and Fabrizio Romano has Tweeted that they are set to offer a new deal to Rabiot in a bid to keep hold of him next season, saying: “Juventus are still trying to keep Adrien Rabiot as new deal has been discussed with the French midfielder. Not easy to compete with Premier League proposals to join as free agent but Juve will insist until the end.”

Romano then said that he expects Rabiot’s decision in the coming days. Given that his contract expires in 11 days, he will have to make his mind up quickly.

The tweet suggests that Juventus will struggle to match the offers on the table from Premier League sides. There’s also the fact that Juventus will not be playing Champions League football next season, a fact that heavily swings the pendulum back to Newcastle’s favour.

Not all Newcastle fans are convinced by Rabiot

Opinion online seems to be split as to whether Rabiot would be a good fit for Newcastle. Personally, I think he’d be excellent. Watching him during the World Cup at Qatar convinced me that he’s definitely a player who could improve us as he helped France reach the final.

Rabiot hit 11 goals and six assists in 48 games for Juventus last season playing as a central midfielder, so he’s no slouch. He can play in the centre of the park or even behind the midfield in that ‘number 6’ role that Eddie Howe is desperate to fill.

To pick up someone of Rabiot’s quality on a free would be as shrewd a move as they come. Hopefully we will compete with Juventus’ offer, and any other Premier League sides who show interest.
