Report: Juventus open talks with ‘sensational’ World Cup star, after claims Newcastle want to sign him

Juventus are set to open talks with midfielder Adrien Rabiot, after interest from Newcastle United has reportedly emerged.

That’s according to CalcioMercato, who claim the 27-year-old’s mother, Veronique Rabiot – who is also his agent, will meet with officials at the Turin outfit to discuss a new contract.

As per the report, Juventus are set to go all out to keep the France international this month, before his deal expires at the end of the season.

This comes amid speculation that a number of Premier League teams could look to sign him on a free transfer this summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Magpies and Tottenham Hotspur were recently viewed as the favourites to secure the midfielder’s signature.

Rabiot has certainly impressed for both club and country this season.

Thus far this term, the former PSG player has made 18 appearances for Massimiliano Allegri’s side. In 13 Serie A matches, the Frenchman has managed to bag three goals and two assists, having also netted twice in five Champions League outings.

Having impressed in the middle of the park, Rabiot has been statistically rated as Juventus’ joint-best player this season, alongside Danilo.

Featuring for France at the World Cup, the midfielder continued to impress. He played in every match of the tournament for Didier Deschamps’ side – except in the semi-final, for which he was ill.

Hailed by sports commentator T.N. Raghu as ‘sensational’ for his displays out in Qatar, Rabiot demonstrated why he deserves to continue playing at the highest level, having dominated possession across the pitch.

Therefore, it’s easy to see why both Juventus and Newcastle want him to put pen to paper on contracts at their clubs.

Consequently, it now appears the player has a big decision to make.
