Sandro Tonali once again stepped up for Newcastle United on Sunday.

Tonali scored within the first two minutes as Newcastle United beat Chelsea to move up to third in the Premier League

The victory over the Blues means Eddie Howe’s side are effectively just one win away from confirming a place in the top five of the Premier League table, which would seal a second Champions League qualification in three seasons.

It was a brilliant bit of play from Tonali, even if his finish was slightly scruffy. The midfielder won the ball back high up the pitch before rushing into the box to meet Jacob Murphy’s cross at the back post.

After the game, Howe admitted Tonali’s goal wasn’t in Newcastle’s game plan, proving just an added bonus.

That was his sixth goal of the season and, having watched him score it, Fabrizio Romano shared a very positive update for supporters on social media platform X.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Sandro Tonali latest at Newcastle United

Juventus are interested in Tonali, despite the fact there has been absolutely no indication that Newcastle would sell him.

The club had to wait ten long months to see the very best of the midfielder, who has returned as a force to be reckoned with after serving a ten-month ban from football for breaking betting rules.

Taking to the social media platform on Sunday, Romano wrote: “#NUFC see him as crucial part of the squad also for the future despite links.”

Juventus are starting to accept Sandro Tonali is staying at Newcastle United

The prospect of selling Tonali looked remote even despite the best efforts of the Italian media suggesting a deal could be possible.

He’s simply too valuable to the club right now. Tonali doesn’t want to leave Newcastle and, with them on the brink of a return to the Champions League, that’s understandable.

Recent claims in the Italian press now suggest Juventus accept that signing Tonali from Newcastle is impossible.

That is a conclusion they really should have come to a long time ago, in all honesty.
