While Newcastle United have spent big under PIF, there is a limit.

Indeed, manager Eddie Howe has been keen to point out that the club simply do not operate with a bottomless pit when it comes to resources.

For all of PIF’s millions, Newcastle cannot simply go out and buy whoever they want whenever they want.

There are thought to have been difficult conversations in regards to how much money can realistically be spent from here.

Sandro Tonali has already been signed and Harvey Barnes is reportedly likely to be on the way, although that is far from confirmed.

Still, that does not mean its going to be smooth sailing.

Eddie Howe provides latest Newcastle transfer update

Speaking after the Magpies beat Gateshead 3-2 in their first pre-season friendly of the schedule, Howe opened up on some of the frustrations the club have endured in the transfer market thus far.

“Yeah I think at different times there has been frustrations,” he told The Chronicle.

“There have been difficult days, because obviously you want the end result, you want the best squad you can get.”

The frustration is obvious

Clearly, Howe is frustrated and its easy to see why.

With an increased schedule to deal with next season, the squad needs reinforcement.

While it is surely not for the want of trying from the club’s perspective in terms of bidding for players, FFP concerns and particularly high price tags on targets do not make things easy.

There is little need to panic of course but things are going to be more difficult next season.

Hopefully, more hands will soon be on deck to help.
