Newcastle United are getting a ‘dynamic’ player who is proven in the Premier League in Anthony Elanga.
That is the view of former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy, who has spoken about Elanga’s imminent move to Newcastle United.
Elanga looks perfect for Eddie Howe’s side, and there is excitement from the Toon Army as the 23-year-old gets set to officially become a Newcastle United player. He will cost an initial £55million, which will make him one of Newcastle’s most expensive signings ever.
The Magpies will hope he proves to be worth that amount, as they get set to pay the Premier League tax for a player who has been there and done it in the top flight of English football. Howe wants players who can have an immediate impact, and he is getting exactly that in Elanga.

Anthony Elanga will not need an ‘adaptation period’ after joining Newcastle United
In the eyes of Murphy, the fact that Elanga has Premier League experience makes him a great signing for Howe.
The ex-Liverpool player gave his thoughts on the looming transfer on TalkSPORT, with Murphy confident that Elanga will be a hit at St James’ Park.
“They need strength in depth if they are playing Champions League football,” he said.
“Elanga is dynamic, can play on the counter, he can beat people, he can play on both sides, he can play down the middle. He looks hungry.
“I think it is good business. No adaptation period for the Prem. He’s used to it. He’s been here a long time. I think that’s good business.”
What Jacob Murphy said about Newcastle United signing a winger ahead of Anthony Elanga arrival
The fact that Elanga does not need an adaptation period at St James’ Park means that Jacob Murphy’s place in the Newcastle United starting XI is immediately under threat.
Murphy has been Newcastle’s only right winger option since Miguel Almiron left the club, and is on the back of the best season of his career. The 30-year-old provided 23 goal contributions in all competitions, with only Mo Salah providing more assists in the Premier League.
Despite that, Murphy is at risk of losing his place in Howe’s side. However, previous comments from the £12million man suggest that he is going to relish the competition.
Earlier this year, Murphy spoke about Newcastle signing another winger.
He said: “I’ve proved I can contribute to a successful team. Whatever happens in the summer in terms of incomings, I see that as more competition. It will be someone I can work off, share the load with. I won’t stop working hard to achieve success here.”
Murphy is getting that competition in Elanga, who will be eager to make an instant impression in black and white. That competition will hopefully push Murphy to play even better, which will make the Magpies’ forward line even more dangerous.
