Ryan Fraser has no future at Newcastle United, and could now have an escape route from St James’ Park.
The Scotland international was once an important player for Newcastle, enjoying a new lease of life after Eddie Howe’s appointment.
However, things have since turned sour for Fraser. He was struggling for minutes at the back end of 2022, and he was then dropped from the first-team ahead of the Carabao Cup final.
The 29-year-old spent the rest of the season training with the Under-21s, and even featured for them in a Premier League 2 clash with Norwich City. Fraser scored in the 4-3 win, and was praised by Ben Dawson, who said that he had been ‘absolutely terrific‘ in training.
Despite this, there is no way back for Fraser under Howe. He will never play for Newcastle again, and will be looking to leave during this summer’s transfer window. And a new report suggests that could happen very soon.

Norwich interested in signing Ryan Fraser on loan
According to the Pink’un, Norwich are interested in signing Fraser on loan ahead of next season. The report states that the Canaries are pushing to sign the former Bournemouth man who has not played in the Championship since he won promotion with the Cherries.
A switch to Norwich would make Fraser the second Toon player in the past 12 months to move to Carrow Road on loan. The other was Isaac Hayden, who endured an injury-ridden spell down in Norfolk.
Fraser will hope to do better, and it will be interesting to see whether or not Newcastle are willing to let him leave on loan. A permanent departure would be better, but the Magpies might struggle to sell the out of favour forward.

His contract at St James’ Park runs until 2025, having signed five-year deal when he joined the club in 2020. That move has proven to be a disaster, and now he needs a fresh start.
That could come at Norwich, who appear to be keen to offer the Scot a way out of Newcastle.
