Newcastle United are looking to Germany for midfield reinforcements, and look set to launch a bid for Wolfsburg’s Felix Nmecha.
The 22-year-old emerged as a target for the Magpies on Monday, with a report stating that Eddie Howe’s side are set to make an offer for the midfielder who could cost £15million.
Talk of interest from Newcastle has came completely out of the blue, but makes sense given how much other targets are going to cost. The likes of Declan Rice or Moises Caicedo would be excellent signings, but are out of our price range.
That is forcing the Magpies to box clever, and could result in a move for a Germany international who has been likened to the legendary Zinedine Zidane.
That is incredibly high praise and should make Toon fans excited about the possibility of Nmecha arriving at St James’ Park. However, there is an issue.

Wolfsburg don’t want to sell Felix Nmecha
According to the Chronicle, Wolfsburg are determined to keep Nmecha at the club despite interest from elsewhere.
The report states that Newcastle are not the only side that is keen on the former Man City player, with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig big fans. Manchester United have also been linked with signing Nmecha.
He has a long list of suitors, but Wolfsburg do not plan to sell Nmecha this summer. They want him to stay at the Volkswagen Arena.
But despite Wolfsburg’s desire to keep Nmecha, the chance to join a Champions League club like Newcastle could be too tempting to turn down for the player. He will not get the opportunity to play in Europe at Wolfsburg, with Niko Kovac’s side narrowly missing out on the final day of the Bundesliga season.

The Chronicle add that it is unclear whether or not Nmecha is interested in leaving Wolfsburg to join Newcastle. However, you would have to imagine that it would be appealing – especially given our status as a UCL club, our meteoric rise and the reputation that Eddie Howe boasts.
It will be interesting to see how this one develops in the coming weeks, as the Toon recruitment team look to make an early breakthrough in the transfer market.
