Newcastle United have now been linked with 22-year-old German international Felix Nmecha who has been likened to Zinedine Zidane.
It came out in the The Telegraph yesterday that Newcastle were eyeing Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Felix Nmecha and were preparing a £15million bid.
The name Nmecha might be familiar to you as both Felix, who is now linked with Newcastle, and his brother Lukas both boast Manchester City as employers on their CV. Although they don’t have many actual first-team appearances to boast about. Lukas managed two first-team outings for City before moving to Preston North End, Wolfsburg Middlesbrough and Anderlecht on loan before joining Wolfsburg on a permanent deal.
Nmecha’s style of play is very reminiscent of Zinedine Zidane
Meanwhile Felix never broke into City’s first team and followed his older brother to Wolfsburg. It was there that Felix Nmecha started to shine and having represented both England and Germany at youth level, it was Germany who gave him his first senior cap, calling him up in March this year.
A profile on Felix Nmecha compiled on Bundesliga.com has compared him to one of the greatest of all time, Zinedine Zidane, but does obviously tone down expectations, writing: “Nmecha clearly has a way to go before even coming close to matching the France great’s immense feats in the game, but with his considerable strength, excellent close control, nonchalant ball delivery and loping runs, the Wolfsburg No. 22 bears more than a passing resemblance to the legendary Zizou.”

£15million for Nmecha sounds too good to be true
For just £15million I’ll take a player who bears more than a passing resemblance to Zidane at Newcastle any day. He made 32 appearances in total for Wolfsburg last season (19 starts), scoring three goals and providing six assists along the way so it’s not hard to see why he’s popped up on Newcastle’s radar.

Nmecha has caught the eye of Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund too, so it’ll not be a clear shot for Newcastle if they want to make this one happen, but if they move quick enough they could head the competition off and get the deal wrapped up before they make their move.
This deal sounds too good to be true, but fingers crossed it is true and it happens because Nmecha sounds like a baller.
