A European club are growing in optimism that they will be able to sign a key player from Newcastle United in the next few days.
Bayern Munich first registered interest in Kieran Trippier last week but they saw both of their offers rejected by Newcastle who are keen to keep hold of the right-back.
Now, a report from BILD now claims that Bayern are ‘very optimistic’ that they will secure the defender before the end of the window and that a decision is to be made today on if they will sign him or not.
Bayern think they can get key Newcastle man
It has previously been reported that Newcastle aren’t asking for much for Trippier. A fee of around £12m, what they paid for him back in 2022, should be enough to sway the Magpies to sell.
For Newcastle to reject Bayern’s opening permanent bid suggests it must have been way off the mark, but it’s not unfeasible to think they could return with a second bid that is more likely to be accepted.
They are, after all, one of the biggest teams in Europe and it’s easy to see why Trippier would be interested in swapping Tyneside for Bavaria, especially with former teammates Eric Dier and Harry Kane now there.
The German giants are obviously very confident they can persuade him to join, which will be a concern for Newcastle fans who largely would be disappointed to see the club’s vice captain leave in the middle of a season.

The Magpies see Trippier as their long-term future
Newcastle don’t seem to care about the fact that Trippier will be 34-years-old this year, they still think he is an ‘outstanding‘ right-back with a lot more to give and someone who could be at the club for the next three years.
Even if he doesn’t end up as a starter in his later years, his leadership and experience would be brilliant in and around the dressing room, especially for the younger players.
It makes sense to cash in him now while he still has some value in the market from a business perspective, but on a personal level he’s got great relationships with so many at Newcastle.
They would not only be losing a great footballer but a great character who holds a lot of influence on the rest of the team and the backroom staff.
