What Newcastle staff have just said about Kieran Trippier after second check on transfer developments

Newcastle United have made their stance on the future of Kieran Trippier very clear after attracting interest from Bayern Munich in January.

Bayern have made at least two offers for the right-back, one as a loan and the other permanent, but it is understood that both were rejected with Newcastle needing a significant fee to depart with Trippier.

A new report from The Athletic is now claiming that the 33-year-old is ‘definitely not’ for sale 24 hours after they first denied that they would be willing to sell both him and Callum Wilson.

Newcastle won’t sell Trippier in the near future

Despite the fact he will be 34-years-old this year, Newcastle still view Trippier as part of their long-term future and it is understood that the club are hoping he will remain on Tyneside for the next two or three years.

The former Tottenham man hasn’t been at his best as of late but his leadership and experience are still invaluable to this Newcastle team who are only just beginning their journey to get amongst football’s elite.

Although his performances haven’t been his best, Trippier is still vital to everything that Newcastle do going forwards with the defender ranking fifth in the Premier League for the most big chances created with 10.

Should he regain some confidence and recapture the form he has shown in the last two years then it makes perfect sense to keep him around for the next few years, especially as his game has never relied on his pace.

Trippier has great relationships in the North East

While Newcastle are not keen to let go of one of their most important players, it has been suggested that Trippier’s head may have turned following the interest of Bayern who could offer him a reunion with Harry Kane and Champions League football.

However, The Athletic understands that the England international has great relationships with Newcastle’s senior executives and may not be pushing for move after all.

From the outside looking in it does look like a very tightly nit group from the top to the bottom with everyone pulling in the same direction even if they have won just two games out of the last 10.

It’s rare you see such universal support within a football club but it’s certainly a breath of fresh air having seen how some clubs can become very toxic environments after a few bad results.
