Newcastle United will have to go head-to-head with Premier League rivals to land their top transfer targets.
Having eased their PSR issues this season, Newcastle United finally have enough financial freedom to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad this summer.
Sporting director Paul Mitchell is targeting three major signings in the summer with a right-sided centre-back and right-sided winger the top priorities.
Newcastle have shown interest in Dean Huijsen following the Bournemouth star’s impressive Premier League season.
Huijsen is valued at £50m but Newcastle are facing competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Chelsea ready to offer incredible Dean Huijsen contract
Reports suggest Huijsen will stay in the Premier League despite interest from Real Madrid, so that boosts Newcastle’s chances of landing the 20-year-old centre-back.
Newcastle are prepared to pay £50m for Huijsen but matching the contract demands of other clubs could prove difficult.
According to The Independent, Chelsea are willing to offer a package that includes a seven-year contract for Dean Huijsen.
Since Todd Boehly took charge of the Blues, they have offered extremely long contracts to young players to spread the cost of their transfer fees and lock them into long-term spells at Stamford Bridge.
It would require a huge financial commitment from PIF to match Chelsea’s offer for Huijsen, so Newcastle may have to reconsider their transfer approach.
Newcastle United could have Champions League advantage over Chelsea
Having won the Carabao Cup, Newcastle have already guaranteed a return to European football next season.
However, Eddie Howe is laser-focused on Newcastle qualifying for the Champions League by securing a top-five finish in the Premier League.
Newcastle are currently fifth in the Premier League table, two points ahead of Chelsea in sixth. With five game remaining, reaching the Champions League is in the Magpies’ hands.
