Mbeumo has emerged as one of Newcastle’s top targets in the summer transfer window, along with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

Mbeumo has been fantastic for years at Brentford but enjoyed a real breakout campaign this past season in the wake of Ivan Toney’s departure, scoring 20 goals and setting up another eight.

Unsurprisingly, he is now generating a lot of interest and teammate Christian Norgaard expects Mbeumo to depart.

Thomas Frank has reiterated Brentford’s position as a selling club, so Mbeumo’s exit seems almost guaranteed.

Brentford are said to want £54m for Mbeumo and Newcastle are in the race for his signature.

However, Manchester United are hoping to beat them to Mbeumo just as they seemingly have for Matheus Cunha.
