Newcastle have been linked with a swoop for Senegal and Marseille winger Bamba Dieng this month – but there are not the only ones.
Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and West Ham have all already been mentioned in connection with the ‘electric’ forward.
One relegation rival, Burnley, are also said to be keen and another has apparently joined the race according to reports in France.

L’Equipe claim that Watford are now in the hunt for Dieng, under newly-appointed manager Roy Hodgson, who has replaced the sacked Claudio Ranieri.
Brighton are also thought to be keen now too, only serving to increase the competition for Dieng’s signature.
Financially, of course Newcastle can blow these teams out of the water but the others apart from Burnley and Watford can offer something different to a relegation fight.
Of course, the offers Newcastle make stretch beyond the end of this season and the hope is that this will be a really exciting time for the club.

We have already written about how Dieng would be a risk because it would be asking a lot of a still relatively unproven forward to star in the Premier League.
It seems that Newcastle are working on other targets in other areas of the pitch, but it cannot be ruled out that they will switch their attention to get deals over the line in the closing days of the window.
It will be interesting to see if Dieng plays any part on the relegation dogfight, at Newcastle or elsewhere, with Marseille reportedly open to approaches before the end of the month.
