Bayern Munich are providing tough competition for an in-form striker who Newcastle United have been monitoring for a few months now.
Newcastle are very keen to bolster their attack in the summer and one of the first name’s on their list of targets is Serhou Guirassy who has been in incredible form this season.
However, journalist Christian Falk is now reporting that Bayern Munich also want to sign the 27-year-old who has been scoring for fun over in Germany already.
Bayern ready to beat Newcastle over key signing
For Newcastle it would be difficult to beat any Champions League team for players this summer should they not qualify for the tournament, but they’d have an especially tough time beating Bayern.
Guirassy will again be available for £15m as his release clause that was a hot topic of conversation in January will again be active in the next transfer window.
The striker has netted 19 times in 17 appearances this season across all competitions, sparking a whole host of clubs to show interest in bringing him in as their new star man.
The fee should be perfectly affordable for Newcastle who will have a lot more to spend in the summer compared to January, but it is whether or not they can persuade him to join Tyneside over others.

New information on Guirassy may be a huge blow to Newcastle
Newcastle are in need of a new striker with Callum Wilson almost expected to leave in the summer and Alexander Isak often struggling with injuries.
Ideally they would want to bring in someone who is still very talented but who wouldn’t mind being a rotation option for Isak and to be coming off of the bench for the last 30 minutes or so.
That may be a problem for Guirassy as Falk explains that the reason he may not want to go to Bayern is because he doesn’t want to be playing second string to Harry Kane and would rather be the star man elsewhere.
That’s not something Newcastle can promise either having paid £63m for him in 2022, so someone is going to have to come to a compromise or this deal is very unlikely to happen.
