Newcastle United are back on the trail of Mohammed Kudus heading into the summer transfer window.

The Ajax ace was exceptional on football’s grandest stage, and was hailed for his ‘amazing’ performances by Kevin-Prince Boateng. The former Portsmouth and Tottenham Hotspur man thought Kudus was one of the best players of the entire tournament.

He was brilliant in Qatar, and now a move to England could be on the horizon – or at least a move away from the Netherlands.

Mohammed Kudus keen to leave Ajax

According to the Athletic, Kudus has informed Ajax that he wants them to sell him this summer. He has reportedly rejected a one-year contract extension, with his current deal expiring in 2025.

That could lead to him being sold at the end of the season, with the Athletic adding that the attacking midfielder could cost up to £40million.

That would make him affordable for the three Premier League teams that are tracking him, with the report adding that Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle all admire the Ghanaian’s talents.

Exciting option for Newcastle

With Newcastle tracking Kudus’ situation ahead of the summer transfer window, the youngster is emerging as an exciting option for Eddie Howe.

His versatility will appeal massively to the Newcastle boss, who is always a fan of players who can operate in multiple roles. Kudus can certainly do that, playing as a centre forward, attacking midfielder and a right winger this season for Ajax.

Those are all positions that Newcastle are hoping to strengthen in next season, with Kudus impressive in each. He is certainly a goalscorer, boasting 18 goals in all competitions this campaign, including four in the Champions League. That experience could also entice the Toon recruitment team, with Newcastle on the brink of qualifying for Europe’s elite competition.
